Beautiful and deadly, this Pacific reef fish carries venom in his dorsal spines and is very popular in large marine aquaria. I have kept a 150 gallon marine aquarium in my home for over 18 years and this sculpture was based on a huge black lion that I had for years when I lived in South Florida. He was actually tame enough to come to the surface and take a wiggled piece of silversides from my hand. He never stung me - but you can bet that I was VERY careful when cleaning "his" tank! Shown in characteristic prey stalking pose with "wings" (pectoral fins) fully displayed. In copper and mounted on a coral rock base.
