St. Augustine Lighthouse

In my opinion, this is the "classic" East Coast lighthouse. First lit in 1874, it contained a first order fresnel lens. It is open to the public and the view from the observation deck is spectacular. If you are ever in the North Florida area, it is worth the trip out to Anastasia Island to "climb the 219 stairs". This sculpture is a realistic and detailed representation of this famous Florida lighthouse and its attached "oil house". In copper and mounted on "pilings" on a large coral rock.
