Several of my friends spend all their waking (non-working) hours, and most of their money, chasing this popular freshwater species - it's almost like a religion to them. You know what they say: "Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day.  Teach a man to fish and he'll spend the grocery money on buzzbaits and carbon fiber rods."  Here a huge monster bass lunges towards his unsuspecting dinner through the cattails.  In copper with brass accents.
