The ultimate thrill for a real fly fisherman has to be hooking into a big tarpon on the flats. My fly fishing technique isn't quite up to snuff enough to try it - but I have hooked 'em on spinning gear - it's like being tied to a freight train. This sculpture captures the characteristic arched back, mouth-agape leap of this magnificent gamefish. This piece is unique in that the scales are individually silver-soldered on. I probably won't do another one just like this one - those individual scales are tedious! In copper and mounted on a coral rock base.
