Port Boca Grande Lighthouse
Gasparilla Island, Florida
20" High x 16" x 16"

First lit in 1890, this charming little lighthouse sits on Gasparilla Island at the entrance to Charlotte Harbor (just north of Fort Myers). After the Coast Guard deactivated the light in 1968, it was left to slowly rot into the sand. In 1985, local preservation groups and Lee County raised the money to restore this historic landmark to its former glory. It is now a museum, and its lower level is open to the public. It has been reactivated by the Coast Guard as an active aid to navigation. This is a realistic and detailed representation of a beautiful and unusual Florida West Coast lighthouse. In copper with brass shingles. Mounted on a dark-stained oak base.
