"Diablo del Mar"
Atlantic Manta Ray
23" wide X 22" high

These huge rays (up to 28' wingspan and over 2 tons)  can often be seen leaping clear of the sea and crashing back down with a thunderous splash.  Commonly called "Devil Rays" or "Devil Fish" due to the fleshy "horns" on each side of their heads, they are nonetheless basically harmless plankton eaters.  In this sculpture, a big Manta cruises the reef.  In copper with burlwood oak base.
