A big Blue Marlin seems to leap clear of the waves in this classic pose.  While fishing in Costa Rica in November of 2002, I caught a 300 pound blue like this one.  Unfortunately, during the 40 minute fight, the fish got tail-wrapped and drowned.  My ecstasy at hooking a blue marlin was seriously tempered by the death of this magnificent animal. But the mate fileted him out into huge chunks of meat for the local villagers.  At least nothing went to waste.
